Geet-Rung School of Dance and Music kicked off its second program of the year on Sunday May 12th at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center. This time it was a dance recital as a fund-raising event for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and was attended by over 700 patrons on this Mother’s Day afternoon.
Divya Srivastava, the heart and soul of Geet-Rung and its director, had spent six months of rigorous rehearsals in producing a dance drama called Journey of Kathak. This 50-minute splendid drama was presented as the first item of the evening.

On Saturday May 4th IACA in cooperation with IAMC and AAAA organized a play about the life and career of freedom fighter and Gandhiji’s confidant Abul Kalam Maulana Azad at its auditorium in Smyrna. It was the only show in North America, though it has120 shows to its credit in India and abroad. Ambassador Honorable Ajit Kumar had graced the occasion as a chief guest.

Atlanta’s oldest and premier organization Indian-America Cultural Association (IACA) always has innovative ideas to serve the community. A feather in its cap was added on April 27th when IACA launched the one and only talent show Atlanta Indian Idol at the Ferst Center.

A thematic multimedia presentation of Hindu festivals in Bharatanatyam dances was showcased on Sunday May 4, 2013 at Lanier High School Auditorium in Sugar Hill by Atlanta’s renowned Natyanjali Academy of Music as its annual recital.
The admission was free to all dance lovers and needless to say that not only parents, relatives and friends of the academy showed up but also public at large on this balmy Sunday afternoon. After the show, many commented that one cannot see a wonderful dance program like this for any price.
